Lee & Barbara Dickson

Lee & Barbara were both born during the second World War, and grew up in District Eight, Lee in Fairview Alpha, and Barbara in Florien.  They met at Northwestern State University, at the Baptist Student Union (BSU/BCM).  Both were BSU Presidents, Lee at the main campus, and Barbara at the School of Nursing campus in Shreveport, during their final years before graduation. They married in 1965, and soon thereafter started multiple careers.  Lee became a local District Eight pastor, worked in sales and management for a large national corporation, and also joined the United States military reserves.   Barbara became a Registered Nurse.  Sometime later they went to Fort Worth, Texas, to study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.   Four years, and two degrees later, they returned to Louisiana to continue serving churches.  Lee's military career, which he had not planned, but followed God's leadership, took him from a Private to a  Colonel in the Army Chaplaincy over the next 38 years.  All the while, God was allowing him to be able to serve on the staff of five great churches, before becoming the Director of Missions for District Eight Baptists in 1978, a ministry he still delights in to this day.  Barbara has always been at this side, rearing their three children, and retiring from nursing to serve as the office administrator for District Eight since 1981.  They both rejoice each day to be able to serve Jesus Christ through the wonderful churches in West Central Louisiana, and literally around the world, through the many different kinds of "Acts 1:8"  mission opportunities and venues that God keeps providing His people in the District Eight churches.

Ron & Lori Thompson
Ron and Lori believe they are living unique lives demonstrating God’s grace. After crossing paths in college and dating for a short time thereafter, they went separate ways. Eighteen years later, following heartache for Ron and a long season of waiting for Lori, God united their paths and they were married in 2013.

Ron attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, and completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2014. He has served three churches as pastor (one bivocationally) as well as GuideStone Financial Resources of the SBC before coming to serve as the Assistant to the Coordinator of Missions and Ministries in 2011.

Also a Baylor graduate, Lori has a background in education, sales, and ministry. She currently serves as the secretary at Fairview Baptist Church. Both Ron and Lori have a heart for missions and ministry and have been blessed to serve on short term mission trips here and abroad. When they aren’t chasing after five daughters, you may also find them cheering on the Baylor Bears or the Texas Rangers, or find them enjoying the great outdoors.
